Your privacy
What is saved when you play, and who can see it.
Use a made-up team name
We do not ask for student names, student IDs or email addresses. Please choose an invented team name. A real name could still be typed into that field, so check your choice before joining.
What a live session saves
When you join with a session code, the site saves your team name and game progress: consoles reached and repaired, attempts, hints, solutions and times. It also records when the game last made contact so the tutor can see whether a team has disconnected. Individual answers are not saved.
These records support the live dashboard and the tutor’s downloadable results. The tutor can see them, and your team name and progress may be projected in class. Other teams do not see your progress inside their own game.
What stays in your browser
The room saves progress in your browser so you can continue on that computer. If you play without a session code, your game progress stays in your browser and is not sent to the session database.
Tutor sign-in uses an essential cookie, lasting up to eight hours. The dashboard uses this tab’s storage for its private access key and display preferences. There are no analytics or third-party cookies.
Protecting the service
IP addresses are briefly used to make hashed keys that limit repeated requests. The site does not save IP addresses in its session database.
How long data are kept
Session data are kept for 30 days after the tutor ends the session. If a session is never ended, the 30 days run from its creation. Expired sessions become unavailable and their data are removed automatically.
Progress saved on your computer remains in that browser until it is cleared. Results downloaded by the tutor are separate copies.
